Thomas Alexander’s New Technical Coordinator Inspires Young Women to Explore Careers in The Construction Industry.
We were very proud of one of our newest employees, Technical Coordinator Jasmine Thomas, after she took part in a Careers Day event at St Wilfrid’s High School and Sixth Form College in Featherstone, Yorkshire, recently.
A prominent figure with more than 10 years’ experience in the UK construction industry, Jasmine was joined by four other accomplished women from a variety of diverse industries where they used their positions to share valuable insights about their professions, with Jasmine offering the students a glimpse into the dynamic world of construction.
During the event, Jasmine highlighted the abundant career opportunities available within the sector, emphasising that these opportunities are open to everyone, regardless of gender. She also recounted her own professional journey, demonstrating how passion, determination and resilience can pave the way for success.
A recurring theme from the day’s discussions was the message that it is perfectly acceptable to not have a clear career path in mind.
Jasmine said: “You can learn anything you want as long as you have the drive and resolve to succeed. Building resilience is key as you move through your career.”
Jasmine also expressed her hope that the event would inspire young women to consider careers in construction and challenge any preconceived notions about gender roles within the industry. “I want young women to know that there is a place for them in construction,” she remarked.
The Careers Day event was designed to broaden the horizons of its students, encouraging them to explore a wide array of professional fields. Jasmine’s participation not only showcased the exciting possibilities within construction but also reinforced the importance of perseverance and self-discovery in shaping one’s career path.
