Fun Family Days Out Near Church Fenton

1. Gulliver’s Valley.

Just over an hour’s drive from Swann Gate, Gulliver’s Valley offers a lively day out for visitors of all ages. Boasting around 30 rides, dinosaur-themed zones, pirate ships and regular one-off events, this theme park delivers a full day of imaginative fun in a relatively compact setting – perfect for when you don’t want huge crowds or 10 minute walks between rides!

2. Fraisthorpe Beach.

For a peaceful day at the seaside, head east to Fraisthorpe Beach. This under-the-radar coastal gem is quieter and less crowded than Scarborough, with plenty of golden sands, rock pools, places to eat and drink and a friendly dog‑and‑family vibe. Whether you prefer sun, sea, exploration, building sandcastles or just walking along the shoreline, Fraisthorpe has got the lot!

3. National Railway Museum.

If/when a rainy day scuppers your plans, the world-renowned National Railway Museum in York is always there to come to your rescue!

A must-visit indoor option, the National Railway Museum is full of interactive displays, full-size steam engines and hands-on exhibits offering educational fun that is guaranteed to keep young children and nostalgic adults alike entertained for hours!

4. Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal.

For a spot of fresh air combined with a whole lot of history, Fountains Abbey is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s less than an hour away from Swann Gate. 

With majestic abbey ruins, expansive gardens and a large nature-themed playground, this attraction combines history with space to roam… just like the free-roaming deer that populate the 822-acre park!
