At Thomas Alexander Homes, we carefully select the locations of all our developments to ensure they’re within easy reach of essential amenities. The really good news for our residents is that they’re all also within easy reach of some of Yorkshire’s best and most popular attractions, many of which are hosting a variety of events to celebrate half-term and/or Halloween!
So whether you’re seeking scares, nature walks, creative crafts or indoor escapes from rainy days, what can our residents and their families look forward to over the coming weeks? Read on to find out!
York Maze Hallowscream.
Winner of Best UK Scream Park, Hallowscream at York Maze is the perfect combination of fun and frights, with several live-action haunted house attractions, live stage shows and more, all located on a farm where a terrible tragedy occurred hundreds of years ago…
With both in and outdoor attractions and plenty of food and drink options, there’s nowhere better to celebrate Halloween 2025, however you must be 16+ to enter, or aged between 10 and 15 to enter the HallowTween version!
Tickets must be booked in advance, online, at: https://www.yorkmazehallowscream.co.uk/
Stockeld Park.
A Grade-I listed country house and estate situated between Wetherby and Harrogate and spanning around 2,000 acres, Stokeld Park is a great place to visit all year round.
From the 25th October until 2nd of November, however, it’s absolutely unmissable, as its half-term and Halloween activities come to the fore, with something for guests of all ages, from the Woodland Witches forest trail, to the Monster Maze or the incredible Laser Zombie Experience!

Spilman’s Pumpkin Festival.
Carving pumpkins is something that many parents will be attempting over the coming days so ensuring you’ve picked some good ones is a must!
Enter Spilman’s Pumpkin Festival!
This stunning farm near Thirsk is home to 175,000 pumpkins, all homegrown and waiting to be picked. But the fun doesn’t stop there, with this year’s seasonal activities including tractor rides, pipe rolling, pumpkin slingshots, live music, firework displays and more. You can even pick your own pumpkins at night!

Ghosts in the Gardens.
One of the most enchanting free events this autumn is Ghosts in the Gardens. 3D, wire-mesh ghost sculptures have been positioned around York’s streets (widely regarded as some of Europe’s most haunted) and green spaces, inviting families to go on a ghost hunt around the city!
It’s low cost (ie free) but somewhat weather dependent – just remember to check the forecast before you set off and pack warm/waterproof clothes, plus maybe a torch if you fancy a walk at dusk.

Beetle Bank Farm Spooktacular.
For more big kid/family fun, the popular Beetle Bank Farm is running its annual Spooktacular from 27th – 31st October, with pumpkin picking, ghoulish games, ghost hunts and sticky crafts all on the agenda!
A mix of countryside ambience with a Halloween twist, Beetle Bank is ideal for younger children, with nothing too scary to worry about!
