Celebrating World Environment Day: Five Outdoor Adventures Near Our Developments
At Thomas Alexander Homes, we’re proud to build in some of North Yorkshire’s most beautiful and historic locations so, this World Environment Day, we’re celebrating the great outdoors with five fun activities near our active developments, with something for every age group.
Whether you’re seeking peaceful walks, family fun or adventures for little explorers, we’ve got you covered!
🌿 1. Scenic Stroll at Sutton Bank National Park Centre (Thirsk).
Sutton Bank offers one of the most breathtaking views in England, with accessible walking trails and benches along the way. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy a gentle walk, fresh air and panoramic vistas over the Vale of York. The visitor centre also provides information on local wildlife and history, making for a peaceful and enriching day out.
🚣 2. Rowing on the River Nidd (Knaresborough).
Why not embrace the charm of Knaresborough by renting a rowing boat on the River Nidd? Glide beneath the iconic viaduct, take in the lush greenery and finish off with a riverside picnic. It’s a relaxing yet invigorating way to enjoy nature and the town’s historic scenery.
👨👩👧👦 3. York Maze (York).
York Maze is a seasonal favorite, offering a giant maize maze, adventure playgrounds and interactive exhibits. It’s perfect for families seeking a full day of outdoor fun, with activities designed to entertain and educate children of all ages.
Best of all, the maze’s design changes annually, meaning there’s a new adventure to look forward to every summer!
🦕 4. Mother Shipton’s Cave (Knaresborough).
Step back in time at Mother Shipton’s Cave, England’s oldest visitor attraction! This mystical cave is just crying out to be explored, along with its petrifying well and surrounding woodland park. With its blend of history, nature and myth, it’s guaranteed to captivate both children and adults alike.
🐾 5. Piglets Adventure Farm (York).
Piglets Adventure Farm offers a delightful experience for young children, with opportunities to meet farm animals, enjoy tractor rides and play in outdoor areas. Seasonal events and themed activities ensure that there’s always something new to explore, making it a firm favourite among families with toddlers and pre-schoolers.
Whether you’re a resident of one of our developments or just visiting, these activities offer wonderful ways to engage with the local environment and create lasting memories.
Happy World Environment Day from all of us at Thomas Alexander Homes!
